Happy Birthday, USA

Well, let's admit it. This day really is a celebration of the conception of the new nation, not the actual birth.
Good thing we don't celebrate our own birthdays that way, we'd all be nine months older. And who needs that?
We are 15-20 degrees cooler today, thanks to the cloud cover and the potential for rain. Lightning and thunder might compete with fireworks this evening, and rain might dampen the whole event.
The Diamondbacks lost the game we went to see, but we had a good time, anyway. Our new truck is a joy to drive and to ride in on the interstate. We parked and took the light rail from Tempe to downtown Phoenix. That is a great way to get across town. Cheap and stress-free. And the station is closer to the ballpark than any of the parking lots, so less walking in the Phoenix heat. Anything you can do less of in Phoenix, is a good thing.

Our high was 86 degrees today--the lowest since 1895! And, near our house, we received almost 3 1/2 inches of that wet stuff called rain. We went to the grocery store and had to take quite a few detours around running washes and through washes that, while no longer running, were filled with sand! VERY COOL!!!

Will a lot of things be blooming now beause of the moisture? Enjoy the blessings. Sounds like there is a heatwave throughout the midsection of the US. It's still cool and grey up here...I could use a bit of the good old SUNSHINE though. Happy 4th! Hugs from Sitka...

Not too many blooms just yet. With all that rain though, I'm noticing new weeds. Hope you got some sunshine!

NOPE...no sunshine yet...and temps in the mid-50s. I'll be glad to head to Minnesota at the end of the month.

I am experimenting with free motion quilting...having fun!
