The in-dash thermometer read 46 but it was much colder by that little lake below a snowbank.
The photos only give a hint of the spectacular color everywhere. Unfortunately, a few dozen other people were on the mountain, so wildlife made itself scarce. If you enlarge that last picture it is much better.
What a beautiful September day. We are getting rain here and the temperature has been in the 80's for a little bit of the daylight. Come on home!
