Making the best of a bad situation comes easy after the practice we've had. For reference, see just about any of our previous entries.
On Friday, when we were supposed to be enjoying the cool temps in Silver City, we instead went to the refrigerated confines of our local multiplex to see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel." That was fun. Then we decided to find a motel near Silver City and go to the blues festival, anyway. The nearest available room was in Lordsburg, 45 miles distant. We got the room free from our rewards. Excellent.
We found a good, comfortable place in the shade at the park and enjoyed the music from noon until 9 pm. Then on Sunday, from noon until 6:30. Becky and Steve joined us for the day and dinner after. Then we drove home.
So we salvaged most of a good time. We enjoyed the music, the perfect weather, and the people watching. There was more driving involved than we planned for, but, on the bright side, there are fewer bugs in the world now.

Good save!
Glad you still had a nice time. Liz and her girls joined us to go see Dave's mom in Durango. Left Thursday about 1:00 and got back Monday about 8 pm. Saw deer and fawns and horses and colts and cows and calves - lots of horses on the Navajo reservation this trip. Tommie's cat had kittens, about 4 weeks old, so the kids were happy when they were able to catch them. Dave's neice saddled one of their Belgian draft horses so the girls all got a ride on a VERY BIG horse! That was great, and there were barn kittens there, too, not at all hard to catch. Horses and kittens - young girls dream day - and then we all went for chocolate milkshakes! Doesn't get much better than that.
We ate way too much, made priceless memories, saw beautiful country, and the van windshield shows that we took care of our share of bugs too.
