The Parade!

We walked into town for the 4th of July parade today. I'll post just a few pictures of the happenings. Nap time and then we'll head back out for more activities.

Celebrating Alaska's birthday...

A few of our friends from the north...they stayed afterwards and played some great music...

A classical car club from Fairbanks and Anchorage came with some great cars. This was a fun license plate...

Not everyone in Alaska is a Sarah Palin fan...

We watched the flag-raising ceremony at the post office. Although Alaska became a state officially in January of 1959, the 49 star flag could not be flown until July 4, 1959. It didn't get much wear and tear before we had a 50 star flag. The Skagway museum allowed the original Skagway flag to be flown today.
